Sunday Watercolors on a Monday
Last week I practised skies and this week I focused on trees. Once again I devided my sheet into 6 small squares and made some mini studies of different kinds of trees. This is actually a great tip because it is so easy to get disappointed if you start out and plan to paint a large serious painting and then half way something goes wrong + even if you don't mess up it would still take me a whole week to complete just one painting. This way you can paint very relaxed and try new techniques without having to worry about the results.
I actually liked how some of them turned out. They are much smaller than shown here, so I think they could make some nice greeting cards with a little simple paspartout around them.
Have a great day, hugs, Karin

Sunday Watercolors 1
Hi!
Hope you've all had a WONDERFUL Christmas break. I have but the Days fly by so fast and on Tuesday it's back to work. I had so many things I wanted to do and so many friends I wanted to see, but...
I'm actually here to share a New Year's resolution I made - I usually don't make any but this year I did. I want to start painting watercolors again and I made a promise to myself to do so (-:
I used to paint a lot when I was younger, but then I've neglected it - I found cardmaking which has taken up most of my crafting time lately - I LOVE it but after seeing some wonderful Pictures at design seeds I realized how much I missed painting.
When Christmas break started I took out my colors and paper and made this Little sketch painting
inspired by this image:
I soon realized I didn't have the same feeling for it as I used to - I guess you can't leave it for 10 years and then expect to just pick it up where you left...
So my New Year's resolution is to start from the beginning again, practising the basics, try the techniques I used to be good at etc. To put a little pressure on myself I decided to post about my journey here on my blog and I'm going to call it Watercolor Sundays.
My first "lesson" was skies. I devided my sheet into six small Squares and tried different techniques for each of them, dry on wet, wet on wet, spattering chineese White for snow etc.
I'm off to gym class, but will hopefully find time for some more skies later this afternoon.
Hugs, Karin

I'm sorry - and a publication!
I'm so sorry it's been so quiet here on my blog and I'm WAY, WAY behind on returning comments. The end of the term at school is Always very busy and stressful with exams/tests to correct and the grading )-: and it's taken some time to get the energy back. Also I've been away on what was going to be a skiing trip to Branäs - but it rained... - at least I got time for Reading - which I haven't had for very long. I'm halfway through a really good one; Me Before You by Jojo Moyes.
Anyway, I thought I'd share a card I had published in the latest issue of CARDS.
