Sunday watercolors; Want to paint looser watercolors? A little tip.

For today's Sunday watercolors I have a Little tip if you, like me, want to loosen up your watercolor painting. I started with the lion below and wasn't happy with the result - there's no excitment going in it - I Think you can tell it's a lion, but the masked whiskers and hairs stand out too much - it looks too planned. Instead I skipped the drawing underneath and started painting right away. You are forced to work faster and just try to caprute colors and shapes instead. I'm so much happier with the second one (above) and think that if I could combine the two ways of aproaching a subject I'd be really happy (-:

If you want to view more of my watercolors I've collected some on my Watercolors page HERE

Happy Painting, hugs, Karin

Så jättefina Karin! Jag tycker att båda två är jättefina. Blicken är helt suverän på den översta, väldigt mycket lejon. Det är ett av mina favoritdjur (det är inte en slump att lillkillen heter Leo). Ha en bra vecka!

Wow, you did such an amazing job on her face.I've had cats my entire life, household not wild lions, lol and their eyes are beautiful, those eyes are mesmerizing. As always thanks for sharing your talents and inspiring.

Personally, I think you did a fantastic job on both. I like the first one really well, but as you explained what didn't thrill you about it, I could understand what you meant. Thanks for that! The second painting is gorgeous! Wow! Thanks for sharing both! :)

Both are wonderful, but WOW! You have such talent, I love that you were able to do the second off the cuff!
