Beautiful Patterned Paper!

There's a new fun challenge up at Lawnscaping - use patterned paper and I had to make a card right away. As always other challenges are in the back of my head while I'm creating and influencing my designs. This time it was the colors from CR84FN and the Doily challenge at Moxie Fab world. Here's the result:

The patterned papers I used are from Lawn Fawn's wonderful Bright Side collection and the stamps are LF; Critters in the Burbs and Claire's ABC's.

I'm also entering this for the Anything goes challenge at Simon Says Stamp .

Have a great day, hugs, Karin

A Double-Doily Card!

Hi!
I know I'm last minute with my entry for the Doily challenge at Moxie Fab World's  Card Creations Inspiration weeks but I had to finish the crocheted doily first and somehow time really seems to fly now. The end of term is always extra busy at work )-:
Anyway, here it is. I used Hero Arts stamp Flower Dot bg (Super pretty bg stamp that looks just like small doilies too!) for the pink bg and embossed my white cardstock with PTI text embossing plates. I used colors from A blog Named Hero Kraft, Pink and white a Lifestyle crafts die for the flower and added a button and bow for the challenge at Crafty Catz. I'm also entering this card for the Anything Goes challenge at Simon Says stamp and for the favorite embellishment challenge at Let's ink it up.
My favorite embellishments, if I go through my blog posts, are quite clearly homemade fabric flowers - I didn't think I was a very "flowery" crafter but I seem to use them all the time...

Have a wonderful day, hugs, Karin

Glittery Flower!

At CAS-ual Fridays this week they want to see CAS cards with glitter and bling. Glitter is usually not my thing but I think the result this time was quite OK:

I used Crafters Companion Glitter spray for the flower and before it had dried I added some Martha Stewart turqoise glitter. I had Stickles for the leaves and added some rhinestone bling too  - inspired by the heart and colors from A Blog Named Hero's Blog Banner ( just a little darker turqoise than I remembered... (-: )
+ I was once again inspired by the beautiful pictures at Jay Gees Nook - especially the beanbag - chair ( edited thanks to Jessie!) or whatever it might be called in English....

I'm also entering this for the Anything Goes challenge at Simon Says Stamp.

Playing with Mama Elephant and watercolors

Those of you who follow my blog know that I used to paint a lot of watercolors when I was younger and that I am on a mission to get back to where I was then (skillwise) through my Sunday Watercolor exercises. Here's my latest SWC post!

I think it's because I've painted quite a lot of watercolors that I haven't fallen head over heels with the new Watercoloring trend in cardmaking.
But today I thought I'd share a technique that I haven't seen anyone using yet - it's a technique popular among watercolorartists to get nice impressionistic texture to their paintings. I used that technique both for lanscapes to get grass or rock texture but also as a great starting point for abstract paintings.

It is super easy, you mix your colors and then cover a piece of watercolor paper with them. Before they've dried you take a piece of plasticfilm that you wringle and then spread across your piece of paper. You let it dry and then you simply pull off the film and see what you got!

Hope you'll give it a try - and if you do - please let me know so I can come and see the result!!!

Waltzing Mouse BlogParty

Party Time over at the Waltzing Mouse and there is plenty of time to join. For all the info you need just click HERE.
This month's challenge is to use felt or cozy fabric on your card.
I made my heart embellishment from something very cozy -  a glimmer "fiber" called Angelina that I sometimes use with my students when we work with embroidery. It is fun and "festive" to use as it is or you can mix fibers from different colors to get really cool effects .You shape your "wool"and then iron it to fixate it. You can also give your piece of Angelina "fabric" texture using your rubberstamps - but I'll have to come back with a tutorial for that when work has slowed down. My rose is also fabric and handmade from a  bias strip (-:

The WMStamps I've used are from Gingham and CO and Fancy Frames.
I used the colors + photo at The RibbonGirls as inspiration and
I'm entering this card for the flower challenge at YCU.
Have a great day and a great party, hugs, Karin
