Animals are fascinating to paint - You have to look so closely at what they actually look like you discover/notice a lot. THe same with color - who would think of using yellow on the rhionses' backs - but if you look at the picture closely you will see that the colors - in that light and in that place- were actually ranging from yellow, redish, grey, some green tints all the way to the expected greys and blacks. I can't really remember but I think I used just red and green to create the greys in both the pictures. I'll share some fun blending techniques/exercises with you when I get the time!
