Sunday Watercolor World Watercolor month day 21-22

Hi Everyone!

Today I'm sharing my prompts for day 21-22 for World Watercolor month :

# 21 Summer Colors

This one (above) is from Gotland , the island off the Swedish east coast. And Gotland simply  is summer to me (-: .

#22 Wind in the Trees

The second one is for the prompt #22  Wind in the trees - This is a painting I made from a sketch I made while I was waiting for my dear hubby to complete his orienteering race (I had a shorter race) at Lindome, Barnsjön (Childlake (-: ) last year.
To be honest there wasn't a lot of wind that day, but enough to qualify, dont you think (-:
I think the prompts should be used as inspiration and to me it's been a great reason to get the things that have been in my "want to paint folder" done.

I use Winsor Newtons Artists' (- Professional as they now are called )watercolors and Daniel Smith's extra fine watercolors. The paper I use is 140lb Arches rough or fine.
I also share my watercolors and cards here:  My Instagram

Catching up on World Watercolor month! Prompts / days 2-6

Prompt # 6 - on the boardwalk for #WorldWatercolorMonth

How easy it is to be caught up in too many details when you work from a photo. When I was done with the first  (#2 here) I was so disappointed and was going to throw it away and start something new but I had paint left on my pallett and took out a small scrap piece of paper - the quality wasn't very good at all - but this time I let go of the photo and painted from memory - guess which one I'm happiest about!! (-;

The photo is from last year from Källö Knippla in the Swedish archipelago and it has been in my - to paint folder since then - for the promt for day seven i finally got use for it!

Day 2 In the shade

Day 3 - Sea Shells

Day 4 - red blue and White

Day 5  Summer skies

I use watercolors from @DanielSmith and @winsorandnewton and 140 lb paper from Arches (Natural white grain fine)

Meet MAJOR

Hi Everyone,

This is Major. and he has been in the South Lake Animal league for 6 months waiting for someone to adopt him. I just fell in love with his sad face and had to paint him. It's bben my dream to have a dog all my life, but with allergies it is a dream that I doubt will come true. Keeping my fingers crossed though that scientists will find a cure soon!

Here's a bit more info about Major:

MAJOR
I've been waiting for a home for almost 6 months. I'm a typical English Bulldog! I can be stubborn, and I'm a bit picky when it comes to my dog friends, but overall, I'm a good boy who just wants a soft bed in a warm house.
When I came to The Animal League, I had to have special surgery to fix my eyelids. Contributions from the Sunshine Fund helped pay for that surgery. Now, I can see perfectly and I'm not in any discomfort! The vet said I shouldn't have any diminished quality of life, but I will need special eye drops to make sure my eyes stay healthy!
I'm hoping to find a home soon, I know there have got to be some Bulldog lovers out there! Please share me to help me find my family!

Have a great day, hugs, Karin

SUNDAY WATERCOLORS : Favorite watercolors from 2016 + my palette

Happy New Year everyone!

What a fun year 2016 has been! After 20 years of hardly looking at my watercolors (and when I did take them out I always ended up frustrated and disappointed because nothing turned out the way I wanted it to and it never looked the way it used to 20 years ago) But after a but of struggle I have finally found my way back to painting, which I am sooo happy about. And that is thanks to you my dear bloggie friends who have always been so supportive and cheered me on - a special shout out to Michele, Jeanne, Angela and Miriam. It is also thanks to Charlie Shields who started the World of watercolor Group this summer which really made me challenge myself to try different subjects (earlier I almost only painted lanscapes) Being Doodlewashed was really the crafting highlight of this year!

A lot of people ask me what colors I use for my paintings and even though my aim is to use a more limited palette I hardly ever choose the colors I'm going to use for a painting before I start, but test them out as I go along. Therefore it is hard to say exactly what colors I used after I'm done, and especially if a couple of weeks have passed between painting, photographing and blogging about it.
Instead I'll share my favorite colors here, the ones I use for most of my paintings: Unless it says something else they are Winsor Newton Artist's (now Professional) colors. (DS means Daniel Smith)

Raw sienna
Burnt Sienna
Raw Umber
Burnt Umber
Payne's Grey
Lunar Black DS
Viridian
Undersea Green DS
Quin Rose DS or Quin Magenta
Cadmium Orange
Quin Gold or Indian Yellow
Hansa Yellow Mid DS
Cobalt Blue
French Ultramarine
Cereulian
Manganese Blue DS or WN (WN is a little greener)
Antwerp blue
Neutral tint

Other colors I take out for fun:

Moonglow DS
Hematite burnt scarlet DS
Cobalt Turquoise
Dioxide Violet
Transparent Pyrrol Orange DS

The paper I use is 140lb Arches rough or fine cold pressed. I also like Fabriano Artistico rough and fine.

#WorldWatercolorMonth Day 31 : Seal

Hi! I'm playing along with the 31-day Watercolor challenge on Charlie O'Shield's (Doodlewash) blog called #WorldWatercolorMonth. Charlie started this to inspire people to paint but also to raise awareness for children in need of art supplies and art education around the globe!.
#WorldWatercolorMonth
It's the last day, and today I left the prompts and painted a seal just because I wanted to try to capture the beautiful fur.
I still have some paintings I need to photograph but tomorrow I'll be back sharing a collage of my paintings for this wonderful month!
