Hi!
Today I made a Hasse Karlsson inspired watercolor sketch on my cheap 90lb Fabriano paper that I liked, so for the first time since my New Year's resolution to start painting again I decided to take out my good, heavy Arches paper which is a wonderful paper to work on.
But, knowing I was using my expensive paper I think I lost some of the looseness that I had in the first version. Well, to change that fear/aprehensiveness is what this year of practising is going to be about (-:
So to work on "looseness" was just added to my Watercolor -To do list!

Both versions are great Karin. I think it is really hard to 'repeat' the creative process - but you did a great job with both pictures, Jo x

It's so easy to start feeling like "this is important" when we are using our good paper! The truth is, if you break down the cost of a piece of Arches (at least here in Canada), I can get up to 8 paintings from a full sheet (if I mess up the first one and use both sides), and at $20 a sheet, that's about the same as a good cup of coffee, and MUCH better for the soul!
That always makes me feel more free to paint with abandon. Love the looseness in your first attempt!

I swear I could almost smell the springtime air in this paintings. The different shadows on the house in the two paintings, the colors of the roof, the clean, crisp lines of the house...I'm in total awe. This evokes a feeling of calm. These are simply amazing to me. I quite like them. Bev
